Phyllis Carol Smith Rogers

On October 30, 2024, my mother, Phyllis Rogers, suffered a seizure that left her unconscious and required an ambulance to rush her to the hospital. She was soon diagnosed with a glioma brain tumor. She followed the standard course of treatment—surgery to remove the tumor, followed by chemotherapy and radiation.

In the months since, she has met this illness with courage, grace, and remarkable resilience. Even through the hardest days, she has continued to share her humor, kindness, and love with everyone around her.

This week, she chose to begin at-home hospice care. While this marks a tender chapter, it also gives us the chance to surround her with love, comfort, and memories while she is still here with us.

To honor her life, we are creating a living memoriam—a collection of stories, reflections, and heartfelt messages from those who know and love her. It is a chance for her to see and hear the impact she has had on so many lives, and for us to preserve her legacy for years to come.

Please use the QR code (or tap it on your phone) to share a memory. We ask that you take a moment to write down your thoughts first, and then read them into the camera as part of your contribution.

To help you get started, here are a few gentle prompts. You don’t need to answer every question—just share what feels true and meaningful to you:

Use this QR code, to make a submission

(and contact me with any technical questions)

Q1 What traits do you most admire about Phyllis?

Q2 What is the most meaningful way Phyllis has touched your life?

Q3 What is something Phyllis gave you—advice, kindness, inspiration—that has stayed with you?

And finally, feel free to share any stories or memories, or words directly for her—whether written down or spoken from the heart.

Phyllis is still very much herself, and she will likely recognize you. If it has been a while, you might simply introduce yourself. Either way she will be deeply moved to know the imprint she has left in your heart.

Whatever you share will be a precious gift—something she can receive now, and something all of us who love her will treasure forever.

With gratitude,

Tony Rogers
